As a traditional seal rubber product, rubber sealing ring needs to have good elasticity, strength, high wear resistance, tensile strength and elongation at break. These indicators have high requirements and can be used to produce rubber seals that work in oil-free and non-corrosive medium environments from -20°C to 100°C. Among them, the wear resistance directly affects the service life of the sealing ring and the sealing effect. So how to further improve the wear resistance of the rubber sealing ring in actual production?
1. Appropriately increase rubber hardness
In theory, increasing the hardness of the rubber can enhance the rubber’s resistance to deformation. The rubber sealing ring and the contact surface can be evenly contacted under the action of stress, thus improving the wear resistance. Usually, many rubber sealing ring manufacturers usually increase the sulfur content or add a certain amount of strength agent to improve the hardness of the rubber.
It should be noted that the hardness of the rubber sealing ring should not be too high, otherwise it will affect the elasticity and cushioning effect of the sealing ring, and eventually lead to a decrease in wear resistance.
2. Adjust the rubber elasticity
In order to reduce the cost of rubber products, rubber product manufacturers will fill a large amount of rubber filler, but excessive rubber filler will reduce the elasticity of rubber. It is necessary to reasonably control the dosage, properly increase the elasticity of rubber, reduce the viscosity and hysteresis of rubber, and reduce the coefficient of friction to improve the wear resistance of rubber seals.
3. Adjust the degree of vulcanization
According to the characteristics of rubber vulcanization performance, rubber product manufacturers reasonably adjust the vulcanization system and vulcanization parameters of rubber seals to increase the degree of vulcanization and improve the wear resistance of rubber seals.
4. Improve the tensile strength of rubber
When rubber is used to make rubber sealing rings, the use of fine particle rubber fillers in the formulation can increase the intermolecular force by improving the tensile strength and tensile stress of the rubber, and to a certain extent improve the wear resistance of the rubber.
5. Reduce the surface friction coefficient of the rubber sealing ring
Adding materials such as molybdenum disulfide and a small amount of graphite to the formula of the rubber sealing ring can reduce the surface friction coefficient of the rubber sealing ring and improve the wear resistance of the sealing ring. When rubber product manufacturers use rubber to make rubber sealing rings, they can use recycled rubber to reduce the raw material cost of rubber products and avoid the problem of mechanical strength and wear resistance of rubber caused by excessive rubber fillers. Reasonable design of rubber sealing ring formula, proper adjustment of vulcanization process parameters, and selection of suitable and excellent rubber raw materials can not only reduce the cost of rubber sealing ring raw materials, but also improve the wear resistance of rubber sealing rings.
